The Junior Interprovincials have just concluded with the Manawatu Wanganui teams both finishing in the top half in the final placings.
The Girls team today went up against Wellington for 3rd and 4th placings, and in a very close contest went down 3.5 - 2.5. This meant they finish the week in 4th place. The final round individual winners were Lily Griffin, Sera Raj, and Tori Maraku won her final hole to finish all square. Overall a very good week for the girls, and I am sure they will all be better for the experience. Manager, Lisa Herbert, was very proud of the team.
The girls event was taken out by North Harbour, after a 4 - 2 victory over Auckland.
The boys team had a final round match against North Harbour for 5th and 6th place, and in a close match got the win 4 - 2, to finish in 5th place. This is the highest finish in a number of years, so the team should be happy with their weeks work. In the final match Keiran Giddens, and Remy Early both won 1up, and Bradley McSherry and Anthony Ilton-Maher both won 2/1.
The Boys event was won by Auckland after a close 3.5 - 2.5 win against Bay of Plenty.
Manawatu Wanganui Golf would like to thank all the players for participating this week, and huge thanks to the Managers, Lisa Herbert (Girls), Dave Giddens & Russell Parker (Boys) for their efforts over the week.
