The Manawatu Wanganui Golf Junior Age Group Champs were played on Sunday at Rangatira Golf Club. Weather threatened to spoil the day, however for most of the day the rain stayed away.
The Boys Under 19 championship was won by Foxton's Anthony Ilton-Maher, with rounds of 71 & 75. In second place was Manawatu's Ethan Dodds, 3 shots back with rounds of 76 & 73.
The Girls Under 19 championship winner was Wanganui's Tara Raj with rounds of 75 & 78, 8 shots clear of Manawatu's Lily Griffin (81 & 80). Tara was also the winner of the girls under 15 championship.
The Boys Under 16 division winner was Feilding's Ethan Ward with rounds of 77 & 83, 1 shot ahead of Levin's Cameron Giddens (79, 82).
The Boys Under 13 division had one competitor, Tuhourangi Wilson, from Hawkes Bay. He had rounds of 79 & 87.
Manawatu's Ethan Dodds was the overall boys net winner, and Wanganui's Sera Raj was the overall girls net winner.
Alongside the Age Group Champs we also ran a 9 hole and 5 hole participation event, which attracted 23 competitors from around the district. For many this was their first time on Rangatira Golf Club, and all enjoyed a well presented course, great scenery, and of course the cable car ride back up the hill. Sixteen players competed in the 9 hole competition and 7 players competed on the 5 hole short course.
Congratulations to all the competitors, and a big thanks to parents, supporters and in particular the Rangatira Golf Club.
