The second round of the NZ Amateur qualifying rounds is being played today at Poverty Bay Golf Club to decide the players that will start the knock out matchplay stages tomorrow.
Manawatu Wanganui rep players Tyler Wood and Trent Munn are safely inside the top 32, with Tyler Wood finishing at 9 under par to be the 4th qualifier. Three players finished at 10 under, 1 shot ahead of Wood.
Trent Munn shots rounds of 71 and 73 and was the 23rd qualifier. Tyler Hodge is another local interest and qualified 8th after rounds of 68 and 70. Feilding's Ryan Rooney, did not have his best couple of days and missed out on qualifying.
In the women's section, Tara Raj is the only Manawatu Wanganui entrant, and with just a few holes to play in her second round was holding onto 2nd place at 5 under par, so will easily qualify for the top 16 to contest the matchplay.
