The Manawatu Wanganui team have gone down in their first match, against North Harbour, at the men's interprovincial in Hastings. Manager, Boy Manunui, reported that the North Harbour players all played really well, with a couple of them 6 under when completing the match. Number 1 Tyler Wood came through with a half, with the other 4 players going down.
The loss certainly does not put Manawatu Wanganui out of the running, but does make it a lot harder, as another loss could possibly put them out of the running depending on how other matches go. It is expected to be a close pool to decide the semi finalists.
This morning they take on the hosts Hawkes Bay, and at the half way mark were holding a slim advantage. That match will be followed by Taranaki in the afternoon. Two wins will see them back on track.
