Kaira Mateparae and Kyra Garrett representing the Tawhero Golf Club have won the new format Junior Pennant for 2013. Sitting on top of the standings heading into the final round at Wanganui Golf Club, they took maximum points in the Fourball Bestball and Combined Nett competitions. Kyra Garrett had the days best nett with a 66, adjusted to 63, due to the difference in the mens and womens ratings at the course.
In 2nd place overall was the Manawatu ProV1 team of Logan Munn and Stephen Bamford, followed closely by the Foxton team of Khalil Peta and Anthony Ilton-Maher.
The new Junior Pennant format was designed to provide developing Juniors an opportunity to play in an interclub competition. It is also designed to get clubs to take an interest in their Junior players and to get a team entered. Unfortunately the number of teams entered was very low. A few tweaks to next years event will attempt to increase participation from more clubs.
