The Manawatu Wanganui Mens SBS Invitational team finished a very creditable 2nd place in the SBS Invitational played in Invercargill over the weekend. Auckland won the event for the 11th time, finishing 8 shots ahead. Last year Manawatu Wanganui won the event in a dramatic playoff over Auckland. This result confirms our current position as one of the leading teams Men's teams in the country, after also finishing 2nd in last years Interprovincials in Dunedin. The team that played in Invercargill was Josh Munn, Tyler Hodge, Trent Munn, Lachie McDonald and Junior Tatana.
In the individual event Lachie McDonald was the best performed Manawatu Wanganui player finishing in 4th place at 5 under for the 72 hole event. Lachie got his tournament off to a spectacular start with a superb 7 under par 65 in round one, just one shot off the course record. The leading individual overall was Otago's Brent McEwan at 13 under par, 3 shots ahead of Auckland's Sam An. Next best of the Man/Wang team was Trent Munn in 5th equal position at event par, followed by Tyler Hodge in 16th at +4, Junior Tatana at +8, and Josh Munn at +9. Full results can be found here
There is now a long break before the Men's representative season resumes for the year, with the annual match against Wellington in August.
