Former Manawatu Wanganui representative Rhys Harold, is now back in Palmy, and showed that he has not lost any of his golf skills, by taking out the Joe Kells Memorial, on Sunday at Palmerston North Golf Club. Harold's scores of 70 & 72, was 2 shots clear of NZ Seniors representative, Tony Chettleburgh, and in form junior golfer, Anthony Ilton-Maher. Palmerston North, junior, Bradley McSherry was another shot further back in 4th.
The Palmerston North course has dried out significantly over the past few weeks, but while the course is playing short, it still can be tricky getting the approach shot close to the pin.
In the womens PN Classic, Wellington based teenager Mia Scrimgeour, took out the title, by a single shot over a visitor from Rotorua, Sakura Kawakami. Scrimgeour had rounds of 78 & 75. The best of the Manawatu Wanganui players, was Sera Raj with 81 & 76, and Casey Chettleburgh (80, 77). Manawatu Wanganui teenagers, Tara Raj, Zhouyi Hu, and Lily Griffin were all absent at other events.
Well done to all players that competed on Sunday, in what was a very warm day!
