The Palmerston North Boys High golf team has finished in 7th place at the annual NZ Secondary Schools champs held at Hawkes Bay Golf Club yesterday. The event was won by Christchurch Boys High School after a blistering second round total.
The encouraging sign for the Palmerston North team was the individual rounds of a couple of players. In the morning round Kaleb Idemaru shot a round of 2 under 71, and in the afternoon Bradley McSherry went 1 better with a 3 under 70. This is very good scoring in tournament conditions, and should provide those boys with confidence leading into the NZ U19's starting tomorrow at Hastings Golf Club. Palmy Boys number 1, Greg Shaw, had solid rounds of 76 and 75, although he is very capable of much better on his day.
