The final round robin matches were played yesterday at Levin Golf Club in the mens A grade competition.
Manawatu continued their unbeaten record with a solid 8 - 4 win over second placed Palmerston North. Palmerston North and Taihape had safely gained semi final spots heading into the round, however Feilding's match against Taihape was probably going to determine the final semi final spot. Feilding needed to beat Taihape, and going into the match, it was always likely to be a close one. And so it proved with Feilding doing just enough to scrape through with a 6.5 - 5.5 victory, to claim the final semi final position.
In the other matches Foxton finished off a good season with a comfortable 8.5 - 3.5 victory against Tawhero, and Wanganui and Levin finished with a 6 all draw.
So the semi finals which will be played at a neutral venue, to be announced shortly will see top seeded Manawatu playing Feilding, and 2nd seeded Palmerston North playing Taihape. The winners of those matches will play the final at the venue of the highest seeded team.
Unfortunately for Tawhero it was a short 1 season stint back in A grade, and they will be relegated back to the B Grade competition for 2018. B Grade winners Hawkestone, will be promoted to A grade.
All the best in the semi finals for all four teams.
