Women's team finish tied 9th after playoff washout

The Manawatu Wanganui Womens Interprovincial team tied for 9th at Westown Golf Club in New Plymouth. The team was disappointed to have their match abandoned due to heavy rain on Saturday, as they were well on top of opponents Otago for the playoff for 9th.

The team finished 5th out of 7 teams in pool play, with a win against Northland and a half against Tasman.

Auckland won the event with a 3 - 2 win over Bay of Plenty in a rain affected final. Auckland defeated Wellington in the semi final, and Bay of Plenty defeated 2015 winners Canterbury. For Auckland this was their 5th win in the last 6 years.

For Manawatu Wanganui Leanne Brown playing at number 4, had a good tournament with 4 wins from 6 matches, and number 1 Tara Raj, was also very good with 3 and a half wins. Mudra Lakhani in her debut Interprovincial had 2 wins.

The team can now look toward next years event to be played in Northland.
