Linton Camp won the men's Zones Interclub competition on Sunday defeating Manawatu 5 - 1 in the final, played at Palmerston North Golf Club.
Going into the final Manawatu had won the comp on 6 previous occasions, the last time in 1992, while Linton Camp had only won it once in 1983. Taihape Golf Club is the most prolific winner of the competition having won it 23 times in the 63 year history of the competition.
The Linton Camp team was Trevor Shailer, Eugene Wilson, Tony Rogers and Mark Salmon vs the Manawatu team of Mike Hallam, Richard Shaw, Leigh Thomas and Stuart Robbie. In the singles matches Shailer, Wilson and Salmon all won their singles, while Manawatu's Leigh Thomas got Manawatu's only point beating Tony Rogers. Linton Camp won both fourball best ball matches.
