This is the 25th year of the NZ women’s Masters Tournament which is run along similar lines to the interprovincial.

The difference is the competition is on Gross stableford, not match play. Each District is represented by a team of four to play 4 rounds of Gross Stableford with the best three scores to count each round.

Manawatu Wanganui’s team for 2016 is Jill Hall (Rangitikei), Jenny Ritchie (Marton), Rebecca Hopper (Manawatu) and Joanne Wilton-Eadie (Levin).

As this is the 25th year of the event there is a special 25th celebration also taking place.

The original Manawatu Wanganui team in 1992 was Anna Brabyn, Susan Marshall, Sue Burmeister and Joan Furmin-Jones. The tournament was won by Canterbury.

Methven will host this year’s tournament as it did 25 years ago. A number of the original members of District teams will also be in the South Canterbury town to join in the 25th celebration. Anna Brabyn will also join in the celebrations.

Manawatu Wanganui won the event in 1994 when it was played at Alexandra.
