Manawatu's Regan McConaghty shot a 71 yesterday at Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club to advance through to the final qualifying tournament for the Men's NZ Open. A small field of 18 entered the qualifying at Paraparaumu, with just 3 advancing from that event. Joining McConaghty at the final stage is Shandon's Peter Brinsdon (68), and Paraparaumu's Cameron Elers (71). Those players can enter final qualifying at 2 locations, either Cromwell or Royal Auckland, both being played on 7 March. The NZ Open at the Hills and Millbrook starts on Thursday 10 March.
Other Manawatu Wanganui players that did not advance from the Paraparaumu regional qualifying was Liam Linlayson (75), Guy Perry (77), Reid Perry (78) and Scott Sutherland (78).
