Former Manawatu Wanganui rep Lachie McDonald is currently competing in his professional debut at the Victorian Open at the 13th Beach Golf Links, Barwon Heads, Australia. McDonald has completed 2 rounds in even par, after rounds of 73 and 71. With players still to complete their 2nd round he will be waiting anxiously to see if that is enough to make the cut. Early this afternoon he was tied 48th with the top 50 professionals plus ties making it to the 3rd round.
Manawatu's Josh Munn did not get directly into this field based on his exemption rating, and unfortunately failed to qualify in the pre-qualifying held earlier in the week.
Levin's Tyler Hodge decided against heading to pre-qualifying in Victoria, and instead chose to stay near home to play in the KiwiPro tournament, at Manawatu Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday. That decision proved to be a profitable one, as Hodge took out that event shooting 68 & 70 for a 6 under total. Hodge earnt $3,500 for his two days work.
