Manawatu's Josh Munn bounced back after a 75 in round one, with a second round 69 to just make the cut in the prestigious Western Amateur Championship being played in Illinois, USA. Just 45 players play the next two rounds after the cut, set at level par this year. Also making the cut was Waikato's Luke Toomey on 2 under par.
American Dawson Armstrong leads at 11 under,
After the opening round Munn was sitting in a tie for 80th, which would have placed a lot of pressure on his second round to make the cut. His 69 proved to be just enough. Munn finished second in the strokeplay last year, however this year he will have to work hard to make the "Sweet 16" that qualify through to the Matchplay stages. 2 rounds are played tomorrow to find a top 16. We wish him all the best.
