What a great year for the Rangatira Golf Club womens' teams, winning 3 out of the 4 pennant competitions. Having already won the Weekend Pennant competition, Rangatira were also in a good position to win the Silver and District competitions in the final rounds played at Rangitikei on Monday.
Heading into the final round of Silver Pennant, Rangatira just needed to defeat Palmerston North, to win the competition, and they did by a margin of 5 games to 1. Feilding were tied on points heading into the final round, but behind on games, were also a chance if Rangatira were to go down. Feilding tied their match with Eketahuna to finish second overall. In third place overall was Marton who won their final match against Manawatu 4 - 2. While Marton were tied for points and games with Feilding, the difference between those teams was just half a hole point for the entire season. Congratulations to Rangatira.
The final playoff games were played in the District Pennant competitions. The match to decide the overall winner was played between Manawatu and Rangatira, with Rangatira prevailing 3 - 1. Those teams qualified for the final by winning their respective sections through the round robin. The battle for third and fourth was won by Marton over Eketahuna.
Congratulations once again to Rangatira for winning Silver, District and Weekend competitions. Marton was the winner in the Championship Pennant.
And for the record Rangatira did not have a team in the Championship grade, which means it was 3 from 3 for the Rangatira teams. A great achievement!
