From Tuesday 10 March the Wanganui Golf Club will be running their always popular Nearest the Pin competition at the Belmont Links in Wanganui. This competition gives participants the opportunity to win a $1000 Prezzy Card and if they are not currently a member of the Wanganui Golf Club, a year’s free membership.
Competitors pay just $5 for three balls and need to qualify for the finals by finishing inside the circle on a green 135 metres away. You can have as many attempts as you like but you can only have two qualifying entries to the final to be held at 5.30 pm on Saturday 14 March. Hit the BNZ Pole at any time and you win a $20 voucher in the clubhouse and an additional three balls. Everyone goes into the draw for a $100 Prezzy Card. Spot prizes are on offer on each day of qualifying.
They invite all members of the public to come and have a go and are happy to answer any questions or queries about how they could play the game and have a number of attractive membership options here at Belmont. They are happy to show them the basics and they can have a hit on the driving range. You never know, the next Tiger Woods or Lydia Ko may be uncovered!.
In addition to the Nearest the Pin they have added two more events for the public to enjoy. If you are unable to enter the Nearest the Pin for any reason then try your hand at the Longest Putt Competition. At $1 per ball you can try and qualify for the final of the Longest Putt to be held at 4.30 pm on Saturday 14 March. Get inside the circle and you qualify for the final and the chance to win a Helicopter flight for four over Wanganui. Only one qualifying entry per person but you can try as many times as you like.
The club have introduced a Putt Putt Team Challenge on Friday 13 March starting at 5.30 pm. Put together teams of three and try and win the inaugural Wanganui Putt Putt Crown. Great team building, a social time and great prizes to be won with a $30 entry fee. Great fun for golfers and non-golfers alike. Put a work team, club team, school team or team of friends together for a bit of fun. Contact the Wanganui Golf Club on 06 349-0559 to enter.
