Waimarino Golf Club is a club many of the districts players do not play very often due to its location up by Ohakune. Therefore it was a great opportunity for the junior golfers to get up there and play the course. The club were fantastic hosts ensuring the players had plenty of food and drink. The course proved to be a challenge, with narrow tree lined fairways catching many errant shots.
The first of this years JTS series events was also played by 20 keen 9 hole players that travelled from as far away as Levin. There were two 9 hole categories with the long course (red tees) for the more experienced players and the short course for the newer players that may not have yet got a handicap. 7 players from the new Waimarino Junior programme took part in there very first junior event which was great to see.
