Levin's Tyler Hodge has been named Manawatu Junior Sportsperson of the year for the second year running at the annual awards last Friday evening. This year Tyler won the World left handers champs in Turkey, competed for NZ at the 10 nations cup, and had a handful of top results in NZ Order of Merit events, including a thrid and best Amateur at the recent Harewood Open, a Charles Tour event. Currently a New Zealand Elite Academy member, Tyler has a goal of turning professional during the next couple of years.
Manawatu's Josh Munn was a finalist on the Sportsperson of the year award, which was won by freestyle motoX rider Levi Sherwood, who was crowned world champion last year. Josh has had a very successful year representing New Zealand, and won the prestigious Lake MacQuarie Amateur in Australia, and was the medalist in the Pacific North West Championship in the USA, and got his name on the trophy previously won by Tiger Woods.
Josh is currently in Thailand to compete in a four man team for New Zealand in the Nomura Cup, a 14 nation contest.
Both Josh and Tyler will be competing for Manawatu Wanganui in the Toro Men's Interprovincial starting on December 3.
