The Ricoh Wanganui Open was played yesterday in fine conditions on Wanganui's Belmont course. Most people would have expected some good scoring given the conditions, however this did not prove to be the case. The greens were quick, and many players struggled to handle the course, which is well known to be difficult at times.

Last Sunday the annual match was played between Manawatu Wanganui and Wellington at Levin. The weather was fine, but a little cool with a cold wind coming off the hills that had a nice dusting of snow.

It is with great sadness that we share the very shocking news that Stu Smith passed away overnight on Saturday. This is extremely difficult to comprehend, as apart from having flu like symptoms, he was otherwise fit and healthy. The 2016 HMC Horowhenua Open was played yesterday at Levin Golf Club, however was reduced to an 18 hole event due to dangerous weather conditions. Throughout the morning golfers experienced heavy horizontal showers, and even some thunder. By the time the morning round was complete the wind had brought down some large branches forcing organisers to cancel round 2.
